Stoned Ape's Podcast Show 49 - The Reverend & The Captain are joined this week by Ann Dorn and Gary Foster of the Captain David Dorn Foundation. The Capt. David Dorn Foundation seeks to help underpaid/underfunded Missouri First Responders (Police, Firefighters and EMS) with needed and lifesaving equipment, which they would otherwise have to purchase themselves, taking money away from their family. Ann and Gary also assist First Responders with Mental Health Services and unexpected/untimely expenses. The work that these two individuals are doing to serve our First Responders is helping to fill a much needed gap in the overworked/overstressed/underpaid first responder community. The catalyst for the organization comes from the loss of Ann's husband, Captain David Dorn. In the early morning hours of June 2nd, 2020, David responded to a call during the St Louis riots. Upon his arrival he encountered numerous looters. One of looters shot Capt. David and he was killed in the line-of-duty while serving the community that he loved. Ann's story is powerful. The mission of the Captain David Dorn Foundation serves as a testimony for the passion & dedication of the CALL to Serve. This is a good episode for anyone seeking to gain a better understanding of what's happening on the other side of that thin, blue line. We are grateful for organizations and individuals like Ann & Gary, and for all of the First Responders who have answered the CALL.
