People from all walks of life, from every corner of the world have taken to social media to share memories and express their condolences following the death of Queen Elizabeth The Second.

The official Royal Family Instagram account shared a black and white photograph of The Queen as news of her death was announced, followed by a statement from King Charles The Third saying his family would be comforted and sustained by the knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held.

Technology played an important role throughout Queen Elizabeth The Second’s reign.

She broadcast annual Christmas messages on television and under her leadership the royal family was among the first organisations of its type to see the potential of a YouTube channel.

The official Royal Family channel has almost one million subscribers.

The British Monarchy’s official website, royal.uk has had all its content temporarily removed with a message announcing the Queen’s death, a picture of her on the throne and explains that the website is unavailable with appropriate changes are made.

It’s expected, in time, to feature an online book of condolence for those who wish to pay their respects.
