Time-Blocking: The Honest Truth About What Works & What Doesn't

Time-Blocking: The Honest Truth About What Works & What Doesn't
In this episode, I dive into the world of time blocking, a time management technique I've been experimenting with over the past several months. I share an honest assessment of how it's worked for me, what hasn’t worked, and how I've adapted the method to fit my current season of life. I start by defining time blocking and acknowledging that while it might sound appealing, it’s not always feasible in every situation. I explore how my shift from a fast-paced job to running my own business made time blocking more practical for me, and I break down the three different approaches I’ve tested: Traditional Time Blocking: Creating a weekly to-do list, assigning time blocks for each task, and using a timer to stay on track. While it’s been helpful in keeping me focused, it also requires a balance between productivity and self-compassion. The 45/15 Rule: Setting a timer for 45 minutes of focused work followed by a 15-minute break. This method has been particularly effective for deep work but comes with its own set of challenges, especially when interruptions occur. Time Blocking for Home Tasks: Using short, timed sessions for household chores, which has proven to be an efficient way to maintain a tidy home while freeing up more leisure time. Throughout the episode, I share my insights, including the pros and cons of each method and the importance of finding what works best for your unique circumstances. Ultimately, I highlight that while time blocking can be a powerful tool, it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution, and it’s okay to embrace a slower, more enjoyable pace when needed. Systematizing Go Mode

Systematizing Go Mode
The way I see it, if something is going to happen over and over again in life, it deserves a system! Go mode - which I am defining as "multi-day activity or event that takes you out of or away from your normal routine", happens in our lives in most every season at some point or another. Hit play and grab your pens as we dive into five simple steps for quickly systemizing these life adventures! We will hit the following highlights: 1. Building an on and off ramp 2. Planning for the hardest part of our go mode days 3. Pre-deciding which parts of our normal routines will be flexible and/or non-existent during go modes. 4. Planning ahead for our daily re-set 5. Staying flexible and setting boundaries. While go modes come in every season, they tend to be especially plentiful during the warm summer months. Tune in today, to learn how to embrace the before, during, and after of these exciting moments! Emotional Intelligence in the Trenches of Conflict

Emotional Intelligence in the Trenches of Conflict
Emotional intelligence has become a buzz word in the past decade. While the concept of EI isn't new, it's found its way to #trending in more recent years. Here's the thing though, emotional intelligence isn't just a "feel good" word, it's a real life skill we want to be honing if we desire growth in relationship with others and mental wellbeing for ourselves. Naturally (or perhaps obviously), EI plays a critical role in conflict. In today's episode, we talk about what it's like to enter into conflict with someone who is lacking in EI and how to grow in our own EI. One of the attributes of emotional intelligence is naming our emotions. Fear in conflict is a very common and often mislabeled emotion in conflict. Join in as we discuss where fear in conflict comes from and how to navigate it as we encounter it. A huge shout out to Stacy for joining us for our third and final episode in our Conflict Management Series! Organizations Role in Productivity S2E6
Have you ever noticed how organized people tend to have the most responsibility entrusted to them? In this episode, organizations role in productivity, we dive into this notion and talk about what it looks like to coach (others or ourselves) when organization doesn’t come naturally.  I am a firm believer that disorganization leads to inefficiency.  And in a world where very few of us are overloaded with extra time, learning how to hone the skill of organization in both ourselves and our teams is critical.  While this episode will be helpful for anyone who loves to learn about organization and productivity, it also has a special bend geared towards leaders (in both the work and non-work environment).  Links You’ll Want!  Earthly Wellness: https://earthley.com/ref/InspiringHeights/ For 10% off: For First Time Customers Use Code: CHOOSENATURAL For Returning Customers Who Haven't Ordered In The Past 30 Days Use Code: COMEBACK Drop us a note: https://www.inspiringheights.org/blank-2 Sign up for our newsletter: https://www.inspiringheights.org/email-signup Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/InspiringHeightsPodcast Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/inspiringheights/ Music in today’s episode: "Autumn Day" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License  "Morning" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
