フォーチュン500およびS&P500企業の新任CEOの平均年齢は2005年の46歳から55歳に。ノーベル賞受賞者は、物理学と化学の分野を中心にほとんどすべての分野で高齢化しています。映画の男性スターでは主演俳優の平均年齢は、2001年の38歳から約12歳上昇し約38歳から約50歳になりました。これは”Gerontocracy”（老人支配）とも言われています。
人口動態に目を向けると、子供に対する祖父母の比率は急激に上昇し、祖父母の数は5億人から15億人へと3倍になり、人口に占める祖父母の数は20％弱になっています。
