Meet Erin Paterson! Toronto author Erin, tested gene positive for Huntington's Disease in 2006. Despite the diagnosis she was determined to have a family and live a purposeful life. Her work was published in the anthology, Not Cancelled: Canadian Kindness in the Face of Covid 19. She was a columnist for HuntingtonsDiseaseNews.com. She has also been published on KevinMD, TheMighty.com, Adopt4Life.com, CanadaAdopts.com and has written for The Huntington Society of Canada (HSC). She spoke at the Huntington Society of Canada youth conference in 2018 and 2019. She has written a memoir about her experiences with Huntington's Disease and infertility, All Good Things, which is being released in Fall of 2021.

Some amazing takeaways you can expect from Erin’s episode are:

  • The way we CHOOSE to perceive our circumstances in life impacts our level of happiness. Our fears keep us stuck.
  • By facing our fears, really examining them and figuring out their source, is the way to move forward in life.
  • Pick your goal and take small steps towards it every day.

Erin knows a lot of people are afraid to speak up about genetic diseases, infertility and depression, having kept those things a secret for a very long time herself. She is sharing her experiences now in the hope that she can inspire others going through similar things to know that they are not alone.
