Check Your Intentions
2 Samuel 24:1-2“Again the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and he incited David against them, saying, ‘Go and take a census of Israel and Judah.’ So the king said to Joab and the army commanders with him, ‘Go throughout the tribes of Israel from Dan to Beersheba and enroll the fighting men, so that I may know how many there are.’”In this passage, David, Israel's king, orders a census of the fighting men in the nation. At first glance, counting the people doesn’t seem like a sinful act. After all, knowing the size of your army could help with planning and governance. However, David's trusted commander, Joab, questions the king's motive (v. 3). He perceives that David’s desire for the census is driven not by a need for better leadership but by pride and self-reliance.God's response to David’s action reveals that the issue wasn’t the census itself but the intentions behind it. By counting his soldiers, David sought to place his confidence in numbers rather than in God, who had always been the source of Israel’s victories.Lessons for Us:Examine Your Heart:Before making decisions or taking actions, ask yourself, Why am I doing this? Are you motivated by pride, fear, or a desire for control? Or are you acting out of obedience to God and faith in His guidance?Avoid the Trap of Self-Reliance:David’s census was a subtle act of replacing trust in God with trust in human strength. How often do we rely on our abilities, resources, or plans instead of seeking God’s direction and provision?Be Open to Correction:Joab’s hesitation was a warning for David to reconsider his intentions. When trusted people in your life question your motives, take time to reflect instead of brushing their concerns aside.God Sees the Heart:While people may focus on outward actions, God looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). Your intentions matter as much as, if not more than, your actions. Let every decision be rooted in humility, faith, and a desire to glorify God.Prayer:Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us to check our intentions. Search our hearts and reveal any pride, fear, or self-reliance. Help us to trust You fully in all that we do. May our motives and actions always bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.#jolaspeaks #checkyourintentions #faithcheck #heartmotives #trustgod  #godfirst  #christianliving  #explore#jolaspeaks @jolaspeaks
Transformative Leadership

Transformative Leadership
2 Samuel 23:8-13 introduces us to David's mighty men—elite warriors whose exploits were marked by exceptional bravery, loyalty, and strategic impact. These individuals exemplify key principles of transformative leadership, as they did not only excel in their own right but also became catalysts for victory under David’s leadership.David’s mighty men were not born extraordinary; they became extraordinary under his leadership. This shows that transformative leaders see potential in others and provide an environment that cultivates growth. David's life, vision, and trust in God inspired his men to push past their limits and achieve greatness.David’s vision as a leader went beyond personal success; he sought to establish a kingdom grounded in God's purpose. His men rallied around this vision, uniting their strengths to achieve collective goals. As leaders, believe in the potential of your team and reate opportunities for development, and celebrate their victories.David’s mighty men exemplify the power of transformative leadership: a leader who inspires, unites, and empowers others to achieve what seems impossible. Leaders today can draw from this model by investing in their teams, standing firm in challenges, and leading with purpose and humility. As you lead, remember that true transformation begins with faith—faith in God, in the vision He has given you, and in the people He has placed around you. Like David, lean on God for wisdom and strength, and watch how He uses your leadership to create lasting impact.#jolaspeaks #transformativeleadership#faithinleadership#leadingwithvision#inspiringothers#buildingpotential#godlyleadership#purposefulleadership#jolaspeaks @jolaspeaks

Rebellion 2 Samuel 23:5-7
2 Samuel 23:5-7 is part of David's last words, where he reflects on God’s covenant with him and contrasts the blessings of the righteous with the fate of the wicked."Is not my house right with God? Has he not made with me an everlasting covenant, arranged and secured in every part? Will he not bring to fruition my salvation and grant me my every desire? But evil men are all to be cast aside like thorns, which are not gathered with the hand. Whoever touches thorns uses a tool of iron or the shaft of a spear; they are burned up where they lie."This passage presents rebellion as a key element in the life of the wicked, often characterized by opposition to God's covenant and His ways. David begins by acknowledging the security and perfection of God's covenant. Why Rebellion Matters TodayCultural Rebellion Against God’s CovenantToday, society often rejects God’s standards, choosing self-reliance over submission. Like thorns, this rebellion harms and spreads confusion.Personal RebellionRebellion begins in the heart—a refusal to trust or follow God's leading. It can manifest in pride, disobedience, or bitterness. How to Respond to RebellionSubmit to God's CovenantRecognize the security and blessing found in aligning with God’s promises. This passage reminds us that God's covenant stands firm and secure, offering salvation and fulfillment. Rebellion, in contrast, leads to harm and destruction. The call is clear: align with God’s everlasting covenant and resist the lure of rebellion.#jolaspeaks#godscovenant#rebellion#submissiontoGod#faithfulGod#securefuture#divineorder#jolaspeaks @jolaspeaks
God's Rulership II

God's Rulership II
“He gives his king great victories; he shows unfailing kindness to his anointed, to David and his descendants forever.” — 2 Samuel 22:51In this passage, David reflects on the faithfulness of God as his Ruler and Deliverer. God's rulership is characterized by His power, protection, provision, and promises, which endure forever.David declares that God gives His king "great victories." This speaks to a ruler who not only leads but also ensures triumph over adversaries. As believers, this same God rules over our lives, assuring us of victory in every battle we face. His rulership is not passive; it is active in delivering us from challenges and turning our trials into testimonies. The verse highlights God's "unfailing kindness" to His anointed. As our Ruler, God governs with mercy and grace. His kindness ensures that even when we falter, He remains faithful to guide, protect, and restore us.God's rulership is not burdensome; it is life-giving. His power ensures victory, His kindness sustains us, His promises anchor us, and His sovereignty secures us. Like David, let us continually declare His faithfulness and commit ourselves to live under His rule.Prayer:Lord, we thank You for Your unfailing kindness and victorious rulership in our lives. Teach us to trust in Your power, align ourselves with Your will, and walk in the blessings of Your covenant. May we always declare Your faithfulness and live to glorify You. Standing On High Places

Standing On High Places
2 Samuel 22:34 says, "He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights." This verse highlights God's strength and stability given to His people, making them sure-footed like a deer and enabling them to stand in high places. In a spiritual sense, standing on high places represents rising above challenges, achieving spiritual victories, and experiencing God's strength and favor. God empowers us not only to climb up but also to stand firm in these places of prominence or challenge. This stability and strength are not of our own making but are given by God, who secures our footing and equips us to walk with confidence in difficult terrains or elevated positions.High places can be places of visibility, influence, or leadership, where we are called to be examples of faith and steadfastness. But they can also represent challenges where we need courage and resilience. When we stand on these "heights," we must rely fully on God, who makes us able to handle these new levels with grace and strength.Reflecting on this verse can remind us that whatever "high place" we stand on – whether it’s in our personal lives, ministries, or workplaces – God has prepared, positioned, and empowered us. By trusting in His strength, we can stand confidently and fulfill His purpose, knowing He secures our every step.#standonhighplaces#godsguidance#strengthfromgod#faithonhigh#secureinfaith#divinestrength#godisourrock#spiritualheights#jolaspeaks #newepisode#jolaspeaks @jolaspeaks
