This is it! The start of our adventure together. Welcome to Only As Lonely. Hear about my back story, which might feel familiar to you, and join me as we escape and head to New York on the beginning of this adventure. I'm reliving it but this time I'm not alone, because you're with me.

It’s episode 2. My first full day in New York and it’s not long before I make an idiot of myself. I see iconic buildings, polar bears, I make friends and I also bump into a fellow Brit. Not the warm interaction I was expecting to be honest with you. I end the day with ticking something off of the bucket list.

It’s September 11th, there’s only one place I have to go to today. A real mix of emotions today for me. From Ground Zero to an upsetting sight at an exhibition, to the funny experience at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, my run in the WTF guy and finding a special jazz bar.

I’m still in New York. I’m filling my time on a photography mission and seeking inspiration everywhere. Today I encounter a march, I become quite the art critic and later when I start to feel lonely I pathetically try to channel my inner Hugh Grant and fail miserably. Today I find a piece of television history! I go on a long boat tour, meet a superhero, have a business offer as a broker for the leather jacket industry, discover a hive of musical activity and perform one of my songs in New York. My last full day in New York. I contacted home, I lost myself.... and got lost (of course) in Central Park. The Top of The Rock provided a nirvana moment with Richard Ashcroft. Quite a reflective day today, well, apart from the bit with the Irish man in his underpants!

From New York to New Zealand Today I say goodbye to New York, make a friend on the plane, end up in a contentious love triangle and have an unexpected visitor while I sleep. It was a loooooooong day, in fact, I actually skipped a day!

I'm now in New Zealand. I collect my Van, I get caught as a hostage by my own bodily fluids and I find a camp site hoping to not be attacked by crazy hedonistic hippies but it's not all as calm as it may first appear.

I wake up to discover Reeds Field, then start to head South in the van. I meet some fishermen and have to find somewhere to stay for the night in the bus. My paranoia still get's the best of me. I arrive in Wellington on a beautiful day. I miss home slightly, I almost get stuck in the bus, I meet the lovely Mary, and play my first gig in New Zealand. How will the first gig go? Will it go well? Or will it erupt in a frenzy as the acoustic sounds fire up the crowd?

I cross the Cook Straight to the south island of New Zealand. It's a different landscape as I make my way to Kaikoura. You'll hear about how I got inspired to become a singer songwriter and hear a track from that very same gig and artist that inspired me.

Yeah okay, it's a terrible pun. I know. I'm in Kaikoura, New Zealand, and I go in search of a mystical beast known as a whale. But will I survive this close encounter with such a beast?

It's a Double Banger episode with two days in one. In this episode, I meet a kindred spirit, who also loves the rush of adrenaline; I get close to nature, and I embark on an epic feat of endurance….like an idiot! I traverse a challenging route across the Southern Alps, dicing with death because of idiot driving and dicey brakes (not recommended). I quickly leave a place after my gut instinct tells me something’s not right, and I stay in a place that in my opinion was not named accurately.   But do I survive?!??!?!??!

It’s a double banger! I set off but it’s not long before I listen to my gut instinct which pays off. I make friends with a modern-day nomad. Then I set off and find an incredible spot to stop and think too much. But the real question is…. do I survive?!??!?!??!

In this episode I venture to the small village of Franz Joseph, to take on the physical challenge of scaling a massive glacier.   However, I did overestimate how much water I’d need, and how much breakfast I could eat beforehand. I also made a wonderful discovery about waterproof clothing, experienced a biblical weather event that caused a potential disaster!   I also made new friends and had a mostly pleasant evening.   Thanks for being a part of the story. I have joined Annabel and James as we head off, travelling south away from Franz Joseph. Despite the warnings, these fearless, intrepid explorers travel towards the unknown and impending possible doom. We laugh in the face of danger as we head towards the Maori playground of old. Following the highs of adrenaline, a reunion takes place. This double banger of an episode is going the be the last one for a while, for reasons I’ll explain in the episode.
