Racial Equity in Planning: Past, Present, Future – Creating a Region of Opportunities (Part 1.)

The NOACA Report

13-08-2020 • 31分

In this first part of two episodes, we’re talking racial justice and racial equity in planning.

Just recently, the NOACA Board of Directors adopted a statement on their commitment to racial equity in planning. Many may not think about transportation as a raced policy area. However, transportation policy has the potential to improve racial equity or widen racial disparities. That’s why NOACA is using equity as the central focal point for its next long range plan, eNEO2050: An Equitable Future for Northeast Ohio. We believe planners, policymakers can build transportation systems that serve all communities, and improve accessibility for all.

Joining the discussion today are members of NOACA's Board of Directors:

  • Annette Blackwell, Mayor, City of Maple Heights and Chair of NOACA’s Policy Committee
  • Matthew Zone, Councilman, City of Cleveland, Ward 15 and Chair of NOACA’s Equity Subcommittee
  • Freddy Collier Jr., Director, Cleveland City Planning Commission and Chair of NOACA’s Planning and Programming Committee

Special Guest Host, Grace Gallucci, CEO of NOACA will guide the discussion along with "The NOACA Report" co-hosts Danielle Render and Gayle Godek.  Read the NOACA's Board of Directors Commitment on Racial Equity in Planning in its entirety at www.noaca.org
