Detroit is a microcosm of many of the issues the Green New Deal is trying to solve: it’s faced flooding and extreme weather and has suffered severe consequences of pollution, environmental racism, deindustrialization, and austerity. In the Green New Deal, many community activists in Detroit saw hope.
