Allan Loudellarrived at WPGU in the fall of 1973 as a fully formed radio news pro. As a freshman who had been trained at Lyons Township High School’s WLTL-FM, Loudell quickly became WPGU’s News Director. His career later took him to Delaware, where his work at WILM and WDEL impressed listeners and subjects—including future President Joe Biden. Among his awards is a Crystal Radio Award from the National Association of Broadcasters and the “Best Radio Newscast” honor from the Society of Professional Journalists. Loudell died in 2020 at the age of 64.
