She has covered immigration issues at the Daily Herald, the trials of former Illinois governors Rod Blagojevich and George Ryan at the Chicago Sun-Times, and the 2020 presidential campaign and the election of Joe Biden as a national political correspondent for POLITICO. Korecki has won numerous state and national awards, including first place in Deadline Reporting from the Society for Professional Journalists and the 2015 Illinois Journalist of the Year award from Northern Illinois University.
