A tropical storm watch has been issued for Charleston County after Idalia strengthened to a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico this morning. The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is watching the system as the Lowcountry is expected to feel its effects, including lots of rain, on Wednesday.
