Elizabeth reached out to Geena and Frankie to Make Happiness Happen for her husband Glen! Elizabeth describes her husband as extraordinary! The couple has been together for 14 years and Elizabeth describes Glen as the most selfless, caring and supportive man she knows! Recently, Elizabeth quit her job without discussing it with Glen and instead of being upset and questioning her decision, he was super supportive and stepped up to support his wife both emotionally and financially. Glen works very hard for his family and Elizabeth feels like it is time that he deserves a break and do something for himself! Trisha reached out to Geena and Frankie to make happiness happen for her mother Gladys. Trisha shared with the show that her and husband run a business together and over the year they have been understaffed. In order to help alleviate the stress, Gladys moved down to San Diego to her help daughter out. Trisha is extremely grateful for her mother’s help. Trisha describes her mother as selfless and never complains when she comes into work. Trisha’s dream is to become successful enough so Gladys would never have to work again so she enjoy her leisure time at the casino. Henry is firefighter with Cal Fire who is not only an amazing husband and but he is amazing father to his three sons. Being a firefighter is not a normal 9 to 5 job. He is constantly working and sometimes cannot spend time with his family Kim, who is also a co-worker to Henry, describes him as caring, nurturing, hardworking, and loves his three boys to fullest! Recently, Henry suffered from an injury and will be out from work for a few weeks. However, in Henry’s eyes this is the perfect moment to give his wife a break and spend extra time with his children. Vanessa reached out to Geena and Frankie to Make Happiness Happen for her Fiancé, Alex (Alejandro). Vanessa and Alex have been together for about 5 years and Alex has stepped up to be the father figure to Vanessa’s three children from a previous relationship. Alex is hard-working and takes great care of the household. He works 2 jobs and works 7 days a week. Usually Alex is gone in the morning and doesn’t come back until around Midnight! Vanessa feels lucky to have Alex in her life and loves gushing about him. The couple is planning their wedding for this October and Vanessa is thrilled to call Alex her husband Father’s Day is near and Vanessa is hoping that Geena and Frankie can help her surprise her future husband with the ultimate father’s day gift to show not only her gratitude but their children’s gratitude as well! Aimee reached out to Geena and Frankie to Make Happiness Happen for her fiancé, Robert. Robert is a local rapper in San Diego and back in 2008 Frankie V was featured in a song with Robert called “Frankie’s Neighborhood” Unfortunately, Robert was diagnosed with leukemia last year and spent multiple weeks in the hospital until he was able to get a transplant. Aimee noted that last year was difficult for their family. Since the diagnosis, Robert has been out of work and Aimee has been working longer hours as a teacher to provide for their 3 children. Robert’s biggest passion is making music and during his recovery time he has been producing new music. Aimee is hoping that Geena and Frankie can help her husband free his mind from the diagnosis and unemployment and bring some cheer and joy for Robert! Joesph wanted to Make Happiness Happen for his boss, Dr. Stephanie Cherqui. Dr. Cherqui operates a research lab at UCSD that specializes in searching for genetic cures to orphaned genetic diseases. Research labs have been hit hard during the pandemic and it has been difficult to keep employees paid. Joesph said that his boss has sacrificed so much for her research group and has exemplified kindness during the pandemic by making sure the lab has enough funding to keep the lab fully paid and employed. She continuously stayed for long hours to finalize grant proposals which sacrificed time with her two children to ensure job security for her lab employees. Joesph is hoping that Geena and Frankie can assist him in surprising his boss with a gift that shows his gratitude and also give Dr. Cherqui a break to spend some quality time with her family. Melody reached out to Geena and Frankie for Make Happiness Happen for her friend and roommate Tawnya. Tawnya is a first responder who works as a 911 dispatcher and Melondy describes Tawnya as one of the strongest women she knows! This year has been very challenging for Tawnya. Unfortunately, Tawnya lost her father earlier this year and her husband has been out of work due to a serious accident. Melody and Tawnya have an incredible bond and before the pandemic began, they did everything together! They went to Disneyland and took trips to Sycuan to enjoy their night swims, movie nights, and concerts at the pool! Teacher Appreciation Week happens during the first week of May and listener Wendy wanted to nominate her staff for Make Happiness Happen! Wendy is the Preschool Director at San Carlos Preschool and her staff of 24 employees have worked hard following all the COVID-19 rules and regulations and have gone above and beyond to create a safe and healthy environment for the 154 young children they serve. Fortunately, the preschool have not had one case or exposure to Covid-19. Wendy is hoping that Geena and Frankie can assist her in recognizing her staff's hard work and dedication to their students. Our friends at Jamba Juice heard Wendy's story and they want to drop off breakfast for Wendy and her entire staff of San Carlos Preschool! Wendy and her staff will be able to try Jamba's new breakfast foods! They will try the Impossible sausage sandwich, fluffy spring veggie egg bakes, or a classic breakfast sandwich with pork sausage, melty cheese and eggs.

Administrative Professionals Day happens on April 21st and Irma reached out to Geena and Frankie to nominate her front office team for Make Happiness Happen. Irma's team consist of Alba, Mariana, Heidi, and herself and they all work at the Sharp Chula Vista Barnhart Cancer Center. Her team mainly works with radiation patients. The team of four are all hard working but faced many challenges during pandemic. Irma said that her co-workers continue to work hard, adapt to all the changes, make improvements, and most importantly they are kind, helpful, and understanding with their patients. Irma is hoping that her team can be rewarded for all of their hard work and dedication because it does not get recognized enough. Sisters, Taylor and Alyssa, reached out to Geena and Frankie to nominate their dad, Matt, for Make Happiness Happen! Matt is a hardworking single dad to Taylor and Alyssa and his girls describe him as a hero. Matt experienced a lot of heartbreak and hardships after Taylor and Alyssa's mother left but always remained positive. Taylor shared that their dad has always worked 7 days a week to make sure that they were taken care and even though his daughters are older now, he still prioritize them over himself. During Matt's free time, his favorite hobby is to build new projects. His current project is building a new RC car. Taylor and Alyssa are hoping that they can surprise their father with a gift that will contribute to his new hobby and they want to give their father a break and show how much they appreciate him. Listener Celia reached out to Make Happiness Happen for her neighbors, Martha and Shilo. Last month, Shilo went out for a motorcycle ride and ended up in a very serious accident. A pickup truck made an unexpected left turn cutting in the path of Shilo at highway speeds. He has several broken bones and went through multiple surgeries. He has a long road to recovery and will be out of work for a long period of time. Currently, his fiancé Martha is out of work because she is his current caregiver during his recovery. The two just got engaged and recently took engagement photos. However, the couple is facing financial hardships and is behind on their bills. One of their friends started a GoFundMe for the couple to help them out. Celia knows that the couple are vegetarians and need help making meals during Shilo's recovery. Netflix is releasing, YES DAY starring Jennifer Garner today! So in honor of this we are selecting one lucky teacher to have their own Yes Day! Teachers have really been one of the true heroes the past year, so we want to look into giving one special teacher in San Diego a YES DAY! We called the unsuspecting teacher to surprise them today with $500 for their class and $500 for themselves!

Yasmin nominated her brother, Anthony, for Make Happiness Happen. Anthony was involved in a hit and run by a drunk driver. He was left with many injuries including a broken leg, pelvis, and collapsed lung. Anthony is known to be the life of the party, his presence smile and positive energy is basically the glue to his family.  Anthony was diagnosed with Type l diabetes a year before he graduated and it has been rough for both Anthony and his family. He is a 2019 UCSB graduate, majoring in Anthropology and Biology with a minor in psychology. Yasmin believes that her brother is going to need both financial and emotional support to recover from this incident and hopes that San Diego will donate to his GoFundMe. Aaron Majors is a football coach with the Skyline Youth Football and Cheer organization and he needs San Diego's help to raise money after people recently broke in and damaged their snack bar and equipment storage facility. The organization were able to clean up most of the damages but they still need help before the new season begins. Alanea nominated her friend and neighbor, Cara and her family for Make Happiness Happen! At the start of the pandemic Cara lost her job due to massive layoffs and has been struggling to pay bills, purchase food, and now is possibly facing eviction. Cara's family relying on her husband's income to pay the bills until Cara can find employment. She has been seeking work but can not find any employment that will be accommodating to her needs to take care of her son and help him with his virtual schooling. Thanks to our friends at Batta Fulkerson and the San Diego Food Bank were able to provide Cara and her family with groceries!

Jennifer nominated her longtime friend Carla for Make Happiness Happen. Carla is a kind hearted loving person who does not hesitate to put others before herself. Carla is a single mother of 5 and is facing financial hardships. She is working two jobs to provide for her for kids, however, she is barely making rent and her phone was shut off because she paid her daughter's phone bill instead of hers. Thanks to our friends at Batta Fulkseron we were able to surprise her with a $250 gift card and help her with her phone bill!

Listener Janelle wanted to nominate her mother Johanna for Make Happiness Happen. Unfortunately, Johanna caught Covid 19 that later developed into pneumonia around Christmas. Johnna spent the holidays alone and has now been out of work for over a month because she hasn’t fully recovered. Janelle is a college student and is using her school savings to help pay for bills and house necessities. Johanna's 40th birthday is coming up and Janelle is hoping that she can make her mother's birthday special! This weeks Make Happiness Happen recipient Is Mirayah! Mirayah has been a Girl Scout for 3 years and many would describe her as a hard worker with a heart of gold. In second grade during the Thanksgiving holiday break she decided she wanted to start a toy drive at her school. She was concerned that there were kids that wouldn’t get toys and she wanted to do something about it. She wrote a letter to her principal with her plans. The principal agreed to let her have a toy drive on campus. She continued to hold one every year, except this past year due to the pandemic. Over the past 3 years, over 600 toys were raised and were taken to toys for tots. Last year, Mirayah was one of the top cookie sellers in San Diego earning her many rewards. Each year, Girl Scouts are offered the opportunity to accept their awards or donate their awards to benefit the community and Mirayah decided to help her community in 3 different ways. The first reward she chose to donate helped donate 240 face masks to our frontline caregivers at Sharp HealthCare. The second award she donated helped feed families and individuals through the San Diego Food Bank. The third award helped sponsored microchip and parasite treatment for an animal. This year Mirayah original cookie goal was to sell 1,500 boxes, unfortunately due to pandemic the goal was lowered to 650. Right now she has sold 181 online through her cookie site and about 200 offline.
