John 1:15

John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.  Can we understand why we are told that John in bearing witness to Jesus, 'Cried out?' He couldn't help himself. Like Paul's 'Woe is me if preach not the gospel.' or the word burning in the heart of Jeremiah that he could not hold it back. Here we discover 1) The cry comes from Christ revealed. 2) The cry comes from a deep desire. Many martyrs have perished over the centuries, giving their lives rather than deny the Christ they love. The question then must be asked...What is the cry of our witness in this generation?
