60: Doug Eckenrod For Sheriff(Part 2)
Douglas Eckenrod is running for Sheriff in Yavapai County, Arizona. He is challenging the current Sheriff for the position. During his campaign he has discovered several concerning elements in the way the office of the Sheriff is being run. This episode covers some of these major concerns, including psychiatric care contracts, improper prioritization of the people's tax money, salary savings from open positions, and more. __________________________________________ https://eckenrod4sheriff.com/ https://azcrimestatistics.azdps.gov/tops/report/crime-overview/yavapai-county-so/2020 https://prescottlivingmag.com/polk-partners-launch-low-level-offender-diversion-program/ https://www.signalsaz.com/articles/spectrum-healthcare-contracted-by-care-1st-as-crisis-services-provider/ https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/860207499 _____________________________________________ According to Mr. Eckenrod, the Sheriffs department belongs to the citizens of Yavapai county! Every dollar given to the department MUST have a provable connection to PUBLIC SAFETY. WE CAN NOT make the same enormous infrastructure investment mistakes (Like the $70 mill Justice Center) again and expect the public to pick up the pieces via another tax increase. The existing YCSO budget IS enough to effectively Patrol our communities and Safely incarcerate offenders IF we get back to basics and challenge the direction of every dollar that does not support the Sheriffs mission as defined in the Arizona Constitution.
