Creating Boundaries to Help You Better Achieve Your Goals
Do you have a hard time creating boundaries in your work and home life? In this episode of the Purpose Driven Mom Show, Cara delves into the crucial topic of setting and maintaining boundaries across various facets of life. Setting boundaries with family, friends and clients can be a very difficult thing to achieve and maintain. It is easy for people to say yes to everything and everyone, but this can cause burnout and feelings of not wanting to let others down. Setting boundaries is a learning curve and will take time to get used to. If you are used to saying yes to everything, people are going to consistently ask you because you don’t say no. Setting those boundaries will make a statement to others that you have a firm line with certain things and you will not cross them. From that point, people in your life will adjust to it. Cara shares a few ways to set boundaries with different people in your life. One thing to do is make a list of what you will say yes and no to. With friends or family, think about the time or money spent on an event or task to help you determine if it is a boundary that needs to be created. If you have clients, make sure to communicate things like office hours or response times so they understand what is expected. Setting boundaries with family members, like a partner or your kids can be tricky. Cara shares the best method to handle this, which is to use “I” statements and emphasizing the importance of the boundary. Why to Start Planning Next Month NOW
Are you a mom who always plans at the last minute? In this episode of the Purpose Driven Mom Show, Cara shares the significance of early planning for the next month. Planning ahead keeps that flight or fight reaction down.  Planning for the month ahead is a great tactic to incorporate into your routine. One thing to do is dedicate 1-2 hours to planning for the next month and to be intentional about it. If that is too long, break it up using the 15-minute formula to ensure your goals are being captured and they are being planned properly. Cara shares the planning process that she uses for her goals. It involves reflecting on the goals you want to work on and then having a brain dump, where you write down all of your events and goals for the month on paper or using a tool like Trello. From here, you can theme out your goals and categorize them. If one week is a bit quieter and you find yourself having more personal time, put your self care goals here. The planning process does take some time, so it is important to do it well in advance so you are prepared for next month. How to Actually Follow Through with Your Goals in 2024
Are you struggling to keep up with your goals for the New Year? In this episode of the Purpose Driven Mom Show, Cara discusses how to maintain focus on goals after the initial excitement of the new year.  So many people get excited about their New Year's resolutions. Whether it’s losing weight, eating better or committing yourself to more self care, new goals and aspirations are something to look forward to. But, all that excitement can go away once January hits and everyone is back to their regular schedules.  Cara shares the 3 things that are needed to achieve your goals as the New Year begins so you don't fall behind and lose that drive. The first thing is to do less. So many moms have a lot of things on their plate. What this does is actually set you up for failure because the reality is, you are not going to get everything done. It is best to be realistic and work on a little bit each day to reach your goals. The second thing Cara shares is being accountable to yourself in order to achieve your goals. It can be difficult at times to hold ourselves accountable. The best thing to do is find a support group to help, such as Facebook groups or even a friend who shares a similar interest or goal. This way there is a space where you are being held accountable to what you want to achieve. The third thing Cara shares is to have weekly audits and check ins. This can be done a few different ways, but checking in on Sundays is perfect since it is the end of the week. During these audits, ask yourself a few questions. Ask yourself how the goal is going, if you are still on track to achieve it and what needs to change if you are not on track or have fallen behind. Achieving your goals is all about planning!
