Dreams, we all have them. We’ve all had at least one thing that keeps us going, working, trying to achieve what we desire so badly. It connects us all. We’ve all been told, “follow your dreams” or “don’t give up on your dreams”, but how often do we discuss how to actually achieve them?
In this episode I talk with Mariah and special guest, Katy DeBra, about how to make our dreams come true and our experiences trying. Katy DeBra has been an artist her whole life and she knew at a young age that she had a passion for the arts. This is what a lot of people believe drives us, gives our life purpose and hope. I believe we can all relate to having big dreams from a young age, but what’s rare is holding onto those exact dreams into adulthood. Dreams change and that is totally okay and sometimes we might have lots of dreams, and that’s okay too. What matters is holding onto passion, love, joy, closeness and caring for yourself and others. How can we take our dreams and use them for good? Not just to fulfill our own life, but use it to help other people?
Along with discussing our dreams, we get into my cousin JD’s past celebrity interview archives. Each week we will surprise you with a celebrity moment. (Don’t be afraid to request any celebs because he’s interviewed about 4,000 or so!) In this episode we look back at an interview JD had with Ava DuVernay at the Los Angeles Film Festival in 2016. Ava DuVernay is a filmmaker, producer and publicist known for films such as Selma, 13th, A Wrinkle in Time and more. She became the first African-American woman to be nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Director for her work on Selma. How perfect is she for this episode?! If anyone knows about chasing and achieving dreams it's Ava DuVernay.
A little later in the show we breakdown my drag look and the inspo from some Sports Illustrated models, including my painted on bikini! (Thanks Katy!) We also talk about my upcoming plans and putting a hold on my North American tour of gay campsites, to follow one of my biggest dreams yet! I have been working on this project for the past five years with my best friend and we have some very exciting news! Hear about this and a whole lot more on this special episode!
