On this episode of Nailing the Apex, Max Verstappen dominated the entire weekend at the Japanese Grand Prix and in so doing helped Red Bull Racing win their 6th constructors title, Tim Hauraney is joined by Adam Wylde to discuss (1:30).McLaren had a tremendous weekend with both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri taking the remaining podium positions, what does this mean for the team for the rest of the season, and can they like Norris said catch Red Bull in 2024 (23:35).There was drama at Alpine at the conclusion of the race with Pierre Gasly being told to swap back positions with Esteban Ocon, Gasly was caught off guard by the ask from the team, and was visibly angry on the cool down lap, is there proper communication happening between the team and their drivers at Alpine currently (38:32).Lewis Hamilton inched closer to Sergio Perez in the drivers standings with the seven time world champion now just 33 points behind the Red Bull Racing driver. Teammate George Russell may not have opted for the right race strategy, ws he right in asking the team to swap his spot for Lewis’s on the last lap of the race, or did the team swap both drivers at the right time (51:00).It has been a struggle for Aston Martin on the backend of this season, Alonso starting to show some frustrations with his in race radio, and the team retires Lance Stroll with a rear wing failure (1:00:30).Williams Racing had a nightmare of a race weekend, with the team retiring both Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant due to damage, but it was Sargeant who had another tough weekend, what does this mean for the American’s chances staying at Williams in 2024 (1:04:40).Then Tim and Adam answer your questions in The Debrief (01:10:00). On this episode of Nailing The Apex, Tim Hauraney is joined from FanGraphs Michael Baumann to set up the Japanese Grand Prix, the technical directive that was introduced at the Singapore Grand Prix, could that hold Red Bull Racing Back (6:20). George Russell questioned Max Verstappen not getting a grid penalty for impeding Yuki Tsunoda during qualifying for the SingaporeGP, and is there an argument to be made that the FIA should have the same race stewards at ever grand prix weekend (10:20). Could Russell’s SingaporeGP crash do one of two things to him, make him next level race car diver, or sap his confidence for the rest of the season (19:57). Max Verstappen had said on Thursday that Lando Norris could be the favourite for this weekend’s race in Japan, and McLaren lock Oscar Piastri up till 2026. Lando Norris believes that McLaren’s driver lineup is the strongest on the grid (33:40). Zak Brown is all in on an 11th team to hit the F1 grid, and does not see it as diluting, but additive to the grid (42:51). Rumours swirling that AlphTauri’s driver lineup will be Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo for 2024, what does that mean for Liam Lawson, and does he take Logan Sergeants seat at Williams Racing (52:47).
